Yes. By default, the read receipt private comment is posted under the user who initially authorized the app via OAuth during installation.
If you would like the read receipt to appear from a different agent in your Zendesk instance, an admin can update the Read Receipt Author directly within the app.
How to change the Read Receipt Author
- Open the Read Receipts app in Zendesk's navigation bar.
- Navigate to the Settings section.
- Locate the Read Receipt Author option. (see screenshot below for details)
- Select the agent you would like the private comments to be posted under.
- Save your changes.
Once updated, all future read receipt private comments will be generated under the selected agent.
Best Practice Recommendation
For consistency, we recommend selecting a dedicated system user or shared agent account as the Read Receipt Author. This helps keep system-generated updates separate from individual agent activity and ensures cleaner internal tracking.
