To install My Read Receipts, visit the Zendesk Marketplace and select either the free version or the Pro plan. Follow the prompts to complete installation in your Zendesk account.
Once installed:
- Open Zendesk Support.
- Click the Read Receipts app icon in the left-hand navigation panel. ( see screenshot below)
In the app, scroll down to access configuration settings and click on the button "Update API Token" to add your API Key.

Complete OAuth Authorization
When you open the app for the first time, you’ll be prompted to authorize it via Zendesk OAuth.
To activate:
- Click the Read Receipts app from the left navigation.
- Approve the OAuth authorization request.
- Once approved, the app will automatically connect to your Zendesk instance.
That’s it — no API tokens are required.
As soon as authorization is complete, read receipt tracking will begin automatically.
